Facades for kitchens

The facade is the visible or front part of the kitchen furniture. This is the first thing that catches our eye in the kitchen and sets the style of the interior. In addition to aesthetic significance, the facades for kitchens fulfill their main function - the working area in the kitchen. In this regard, to them there are special requirements: the facades must be strong, reliable, ecological, moisture resistant, withstand temperature fluctuations, mechanical and chemical effects. Let's consider in our article in more details the variants of kitchen facades and their features.

Types of facades for kitchens

The facades for kitchens are integral and frame. One-piece facades produce from one material. Frame facades for the kitchen consist of a frame and its filling (panels), so they combine several materials.

The main difference of all facades is the material from which they are made. The facades for kitchens are made of solid wood, MDF, particle board, plastic, glass with finishing: PVC film, enamel or veneer.

Facades for kitchens from solid wood

Solid wood facades are very rare in furniture production. Frame facades, in this case, are a frame of solid wood and a panel of MDF or chipboard.

Facades for kitchens from a file - the most expensive variant of furniture. But, at the same time, they are the most durable and safe, have a presentable appearance and differ in the variety of finishes. Among the shortcomings of these facades - the rapid occurrence of mechanical damage, the need for accurate care and special treatment. Elite classical facades for the kitchen most often produce exactly from the array of natural wood. Such facades are best suited for large, spacious kitchens.

Facades for kitchens from MDF

Facades for kitchens from MDF - a more affordable version of the headset in comparison with the array of wood. In addition, MDF is a more durable material with a huge assortment of color and textured decor, so the facades from MDF can be selected for any interior.

Facades of MDF differ in the way of facing:

  1. Painted facades for the kitchen are covered with special furniture enamels. They well tolerate moisture, heat and they just eliminate scratches. Disadvantages of painted facades: substantial price, difficulty in care, loss of color under the influence of the sun.
  2. Laminated facades made of MDF on top are pasted with PVC film. Such facades are among the most inexpensive among MDF. The minus of the laminated facade is the instability to moisture and high temperatures.
  3. Veneered facades are formed when veneering MDF veneer. If desired, these facades can complement the classic interior of your kitchen without overpaying for an expensive array of wood.

MDF is a rather plastic material. Due to this property there are not only classic flat forms of facades, but also curved ones. Curved facades for the kitchen allow you to make the interior original and more expensive in the literal sense of the word.

Facades for kitchens from chipboard

Facades made of particleboard are the most economical variant of kitchen furniture. They are resistant to chemical and mechanical stress, they are simply cleaned and have a fairly diverse range. At the same time, facades made of particleboard are unsafe, characterized by low moisture resistance, short service life.

Facades for kitchens from plastic

Plastic facades for kitchens are made of particleboard or MDF, lined with plastic. To do this, use a roll or sheet plastic. Rolled plastic is of low quality and affordable price. The facades of sheet plastic meet most requirements for kitchens: they are resistant to different loads, do not burn out in the sun, they have water-repellent properties, long-lasting. A disadvantage of such facades are fingerprints, which are strongly visible on a monophonic bright plastic.

Plastic facades can be: glossy or matte. Glossy facades for the kitchen are very popular with the mass consumer, but matte facades are much more practical in care.

Facades for kitchen from glass

Facades for kitchen from glass are used in modern fashionable interiors. Such facades are made of special tempered glass or a triplex.

When choosing a facade for the kitchen, you need to think through a color solution. The colors of the facades for the kitchen are set not only by the mood of the room itself, but also help visually change the perception of the dimensions of the kitchen, become a bright accent or a light addition to the interior stylistics.
