Gerard Depardieu will open an Orthodox school and cinema in Saransk

The star of French cinema Gerard Depardieu, after he left his "native" Saransk, does not forget about Russia at all. The 67-year-old actor decided to make it not entirely normal for him to open a center in Saransk for foreign citizens who had accepted Russian citizenship.

Church, Sunday school and cinema

Yesterday the head of Gosfilmofond Nikolai Borodachev announced the arrival of Depardieu in Mordovia from August 27 to 29. For this period Gerard has a number of activities: presence at the opening of the Center and familiarization with the infrastructure of Saransk. The actor will visit factories, factories, and also the construction of the church that he sponsors.

According to Borodachev, the Center for Foreign Citizens is a large complex, which will open a Sunday school for young children, as well as 4 cinemas. In addition, he will be the meeting point for Depardieu with his fans. Nikolay also said that the center will regularly hold creative evenings with the participation of Gerard. The actor himself also mentioned a few phrases about his brainchild:

"I want the kids to be able to attend Sunday school from childhood. I have already talked with local priests, and they agree to work in it. In addition, the visitors of the Center are waiting for an interesting cinematographic program. In the cinema halls, worthwhile films will be shown. I think that the American, who are currently in the rental, you will not see. Russian cinema and international quality will be demonstrated. To make it more understandable for example, you can bring, for example, Andrei Tarkovsky's Andrei Rublev. That's the level of films. "

Confused history with citizenship

It would seem that the general between Depardieu and Saransk, and where does he have such a love for Mordovia? It turns out that the story begins in the distant 2012, when Gerard decided to leave France, so as not to pay a luxury tax, invented by the government. Almost immediately, in January 2013, Vladimir Putin signed a decree granting Russian citizenship to the French actor, and within a few days he received a passport of a Russian citizen. At the end of February of the same year, GĂ©rard received a friend from his registration in Saransk and the opportunity to choose an apartment or a house for living. However, the joy did not last long, and very soon Depardieu left Saransk, saying in an interview with Notele that he loves France and Russia, but he plans to live in Belgium.
