Types of lifting gates
All automatic lifting gates are divided into three main subspecies according to the design: rolling, solid and sectional.
One-piece gates are not very popular, because in the process of their installation and use there are many difficulties. They have some user restrictions. But we'll talk about this later.
Where it is more convenient to use a roller shutter garage gate. They consist of many narrow metal panels. The panels are closely connected to each other, the gates are equipped with an electric motor. In the process of opening, all the details roll into a roll. Such gates are relatively inexpensive, do not occupy a useful area in the garage.
A little more expensive will cost you sectional gates. However, they have better strength indicators. The principle of controlling them is similar to rolling. The constituent parts of them are separate sections, fastened by strong loops. All sections are made of strong metal, treated with an anti-corrosive composition. Door leaf is difficult to damage, so that the safety of the contents of the garage you do not have to worry.
The principle of operation of sectional lifting gates is as follows: they open when the sections move along the lateral guides. Then from the vertical they go to the horizontal position and are located under the ceiling of the garage. The movement of the structure is provided by the operation of the electric drive, which you operate with the remote control. When the power is turned off, you can manually control the gate.
Lifting and swing gates
We return to the solid vertical lifting gate. They consist of a single canvas, which occupies the entire opening. Rise up and are located under the ceiling of the garage parallel to it.
This design is endowed with an electric drive, which is quite simple. The one-piece gate leaf usually has a size of not more than 6x2.2 m, it moves along the rails located on the sides of the opening and under the ceiling of the garage. The weight of the leaf is compensated by the articulated lever and spring mechanisms installed on the side.
Such a construction is durable due to careful painting and galvanizing. Sometimes the door leaf is made in the form of a sandwich panel with a polyurethane foam heater in the middle. According to thermal insulation, this construction is similar to brickwork in 1.5 bricks.
Advantages of one-piece lifting gates in reliability and simplicity, as well as low cost. In addition, many useful components can be included in this design. For example, lifting gates can be equipped with a gate, windows, observation slots.
However, there are some disadvantages:
- you can not put the car close, because during the opening the canvas is outside the garage opening;
- in the opening there should be a low threshold for sealing the lower joint of the gate, which is felt when the car enters the garage ;
- in case of damage to the gate, partial replacement of the elements is impossible, a complete replacement of the gate is necessary;
- not always possible to qualitatively seal the joints.
To prevent possible damage to the gate is not so noticeable, you can use a non-smooth door leaf, but a profiled ribbed surface.
