Myanmar is gradually gaining popularity as a tourist country. There are a lot of interesting things, from ancient sights to simple Burmese people, no less curious. A unique oriental culture, closely connected with Buddhism, thousands of pagodas, wild beaches with soft sand and the exotic nature of Myanmar do not yet know what is the influx of tourists.
Traveling in Southeast Asia, take on useful information about the local transport . This article will introduce you to the airports of Myanmar, which are very numerous in the country.
Myanmar International Airports
Myanmar is a big country, in all its major cities there are airports. Tourists come here mainly from Bangkok and Hanoi, as there are no direct flights between Myanmar and the CIS countries. Transit flights are the most popular option, because it involves a stop in another Asian city. The top three are located in the cities of Yangon , Mandalay and Naypyidaw .
"Mingaladon" in Yangon is the main airport of the state. It handles both international and domestic flights, supporting cooperation with ten air carriers of Myanmar and twenty foreign airlines. Today, Yangon Airport has an annual passenger flow of more than 3 million people. From here you can fly to Thailand and Singapore, Japan and China, Korea and Vietnam, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
There are two terminals at the airport - old and new. The old serves only domestic flights, and the new one, put into operation in 2007, is international. Arriving in Yangon , tourists usually book a taxi transfer. This service costs only 1-2 dollars for 15 km of a way, besides with taxi drivers it is possible to bargain. But to use the services of public transport is not worth it: buses here are usually crowded and go very slowly.

Aeroport is located 35 from the city center, to reach which is also best by taxi (and the car with air conditioning will cost you a bit more).

Nay Pyi Taw International Airport . The capital of Myanmar - Naypyidaw - also has its own international airport. Now it is in the stage of modernization, and therefore the passenger traffic here is somewhat less than in Yangon and Mandalay (about 1 million people). Popular flights to visit Myanmar are Kunming-Neypyido (China Eastern Airlines) and Thailand-Naypyido (Bangkok Airways).
Myanmar Capital Airport was built in 2011. Despite the small capacity, it has a modern passenger terminal, which is located 16 km southeast of the central Naypyidaw square. You can get to the city by taxi or hired motorbike. Travel by road in Myanmar is not worth much: the roads here are in very poor condition.

Inner Airports of Myanmar
For domestic transportation, air transport is also very convenient. In particular, for flights between large cities located remotely from each other, you can use the services of one of the local airlines: Air Bagan, Yangon Airways, Air Mandalay, Air KBZ or Asian Wings Airways. But with the company "Myanmar Airways" is better not to cooperate - its flights are regularly canceled, and the technology is already quite old and not safe. But tickets are sold at a much lower price than other air carriers.
Among the civilian airports of Myanmar, which carry out exclusively domestic flights, one should name: Bamo, Dowei, E (yes, Myanmar has a city with such an unusual name!), Kalemyo, Kyaukpju, Lashion, Mague, Molamjayn, Miei, Namsang, Namtu, Pakhouku , Spider, Putao, Situe, Tandue, Hamty, Heho, Houmalin, Chönggong, Ann, Changmi-Tazi, which is the second Mandalay airport, etc. Also note that when departing from Myanmar, tourists are required to pay a so-called airport charge of $ 10. This should be taken into account when planning the trip budget.
