The city of Gothenburg is the second largest in Sweden. It is located in the west of the country and is famous for its picturesque landscapes, beaches and cultural attractions. Among the latter can be called the Gothenburg Opera House, the local art museum and botanical garden, a major trading center of Nordstan. The journey to the southern archipelago consisting of hundreds of small islands promises to be fascinating. Local residents argue that the surroundings of Gothenburg are Sweden's most beautiful places.

In Gothenburg, be sure to visit the famous amusement park called Liseberg. This is one of the attractions of Sweden, a visit which will be interesting for both children and their parents. Liseberg offers tourists about 40 different attractions, the most popular of which are "Gun" and "Baldurah." This is a roller coaster, which will appeal to fans of extreme sports. Families with children will be approached by more quiet entertainment, which you will find here in large numbers. You can just walk around the territory of the lunapark, where many trees and shrubs grow. Liseberg is considered one of the greenest parks of the planet!

The Uppsala Cathedral, located in the city of the same name, is the largest temple structure in the whole of Sweden. This Lutheran church is executed in the Neo-Gothic style, its height is about 120 m. Earlier in the cathedral there were coronations of Swedish monarchs, also there were buried Carl Linnaeus, Johan III and Gustav I.

Other Places of Interest in Sweden

Ales Stenar is a Swedish analogue of Stonehenge, only with a Scandinavian zest. The fact is that the local stones, unlike the English ones, are in the shape of a ship. According to legend, it is here that the legendary Viking leader Olav Triggvason is buried. The very monumental structure Ales Stenar refers to the period of the megalith and contains 59 huge boulders. To see this landmark, you will need to visit the village of Kaseberg in the south of the country.

The small town of Jukkasjärvi is not rich in sights, however there is an unusual ice hotel, which invariably attracts tourists to the north of Sweden from year to year. Icehotel is completely built of ice and snow. The guests of each of the four rooms sleep on ice beds in warm sleeping bags of reindeer skins, sit at ice tables in the bar "Absolute" and even drink cocktails from ice glasses. Here, a constant temperature is maintained at -7 ° C, and it's only possible to become a hotel guest for one day. The hotel is rebuilt every winter, changing its appearance and interior decoration. You can see this unusual hotel only from December to April - in the warm season the ice structure simply melts.
