Cast-iron pan

With the advent of non-stick coatings, many began to forget about traditional for our country cast-iron frying pan, cauldrons and pots. But, in fact, cast iron is not at all worse, and sometimes even better than modern materials. So, the cast-iron pan thanks to its properties perfectly keeps the heat, so that the dish is not just fried or cooked, but languishes. In addition, cast iron is environmentally friendly and has natural non-stick properties (but this applies only to models without coating).

Types of cast iron pots

When choosing a pot of cast iron, focus on their main characteristic - the presence of a special coating on the inner surface. Interestingly, it is very difficult to visually determine whether there is such a coating on a pan you like or not, because it has the same color as cast iron itself - black. Therefore, always pay attention to the labeling of the product.

Separately, it should be said about a cast-iron pan with enamel coating. Such dishes look a little more aesthetic, besides enamel protects the pan from rust. But do not forget about the obvious drawbacks of this type of coating: the fragility and the possibility of the appearance of chips. Capacity - another important criterion for choice. Pig iron pots, commercially available, usually have a capacity of 2 to 8 liters.

Also it is necessary to take into account the presence of the lid included in the kit, since the cast-iron pan can be sold both with it and without it - this model will be much cheaper. You can choose the lid yourself or use the one already available in your kitchen arsenal, but the "native" lid is better: it will fit perfectly to the edges of the dishes, closing it tightly.

By the way, a set of cast-iron pots will be an excellent gift for housewarming friends or relatives.
