- direct and oblique, differing in the location of the sediment bowl, with the oblique filter of coarse water purification often used where there is no possibility to use the straight line due to lack of space;
- mud collectors (require periodic analysis and manual cleaning) and filters with a washing system using direct or reverse water flow.

A correctly installed mechanical filter is located up to the counter , on the horizontal section of the water pipe, the direction of the arrow on its housing completely coincides with the direction of movement of the liquid. The oblique filter can be installed even on vertical sections of the pipeline, the main thing is that the sump is directed downwards.
