A week after the death of 91-year-old Hugh Hefner, a long-playing project about shooting a baiopic about him was continued. The role of the legendary founder of the men's magazine Playboy entrusted one of the most skilful actors of Hollywood to 45-year-old Jared Leto.
Moved from a place
Director Brett Ratner, known for the films "Rush Hour", "Hercules" and "Tower Hayst", conceived to remove the picture of Hefner in 2007, having obtained the rights to the film adaptation. The project was stopped and never began, and the rights to the painting were bought by the author of World of the Wild West, Jerry Weintraub, but he failed to remove the enchanted film. After the death of the producer, Ratner decided that, whatever it was, he would do what he had planned.
The main contender
Learning that his good friend Ratner returned to the issue of the adaptation of the film about Hefner, Summer personally contacted him and offered his candidacy for the role of the protagonist, saying that he was ready to understand Hugh.
Knowing the potential of Jared, who successfully played a transsexual in the Dallas Club of Buyers, got an Oscar for his work, and also flashed in the "Squad of Suicides" as the maniac Joker, Brett had no doubt that he would cope with the task.

Failed acquaintance
Before trying on the iconic burgundy silk playboy, the actor wanted to get acquainted with Hefner. In the spring of this year, Ratner specifically invited Leto to Hugh's mansion for the premiere of the film "American Playboy: The History of Hugh Hefner", which became a birthday present for the publisher. The meeting of two talented people never took place, Hefner, who was experiencing great health problems, did not appear before the guests of the event.
