June 1 - Children's Day

Every year around the world one of the brightest and most joyful holidays is celebrated - World Children's Day. Officially, this day became a celebration in 1949. The Congress of the International Democratic Federation of Women was the initiator and the approving body.

As already mentioned above, the official date is considered to be 1949. However, back in 1942 at the International Conference the issue concerning the health and prosperity of the younger generation was raised and quite vigorously discussed. The approaching Second World War postponed the holding of festivities for several years. But on June 1, 1950, the Children's Day was celebrated for the first time.

Children's Day Celebration

Organizers and local authorities are trying to enrich Children's Day with activities in which children can show their imagination and talent, play or simply observe interesting activities. The program for this day mainly consists of: numerous contests, concerts, exhibitions, parades, charity events, etc.

Each school or preschool institution tries to make its own unique plan for the Children's Day. It can be a theatrical performance with the participation of the pupils themselves, their teachers and relatives, a small concert or a rally.

Children's Day in Ukraine

In Ukraine, this day became an official holiday only on May 30, 1998. The Convention on the Protection of the Rights of Children, which contains the basic rules for the protection of the young generation for the state, the media, government and other organizations, acquired legal force in 1991. The legal framework on this issue has already been developed, but not conclusively.

The Children's Day in Belarus is marked by numerous charitable and social actions aimed at attracting public attention to the problems of young fellow citizens and improving their well-being.
