Stained glass in the interior

Today it is difficult to surprise a neighbor with a repair with stretch ceilings or a parquet board on the floor. The choice of building materials is so great that you can really fulfill any whim for your money. However, the new is not necessarily better than the old one. For example, stained glass used in the interior hundreds of years ago and everyone knows what they are. But here you can see the colored stained-glass windows in modern surroundings not in every apartment. At the time of their invention, it was possible to afford such a luxury only to decorate the cathedral. But progress does not stand still, and modern technology allows you to decorate your home with a similar decor to almost everyone.

Stained glass technique

To date, there are several different techniques for performing stained glass. Classification of stained glass windows is based on appearance and functional purpose, as well as execution features.

  1. Stained-glass window. This type of stained glass refers to the classic. To create a drawing, several pieces of colored glass are folded, which were previously cut out according to a sketch. Further, these parts are connected on a special set-up table. This kind of stained glass windows is quite expensive.
  2. Soldered stained glass. The beginning of the drawing is similar to the technique for the stained-glass window, but the parts of the image are collected on a special lead profile, which is sealed at the joints. Glasses are specially prepared. On the glass, apply a special paint and burn it. The paint mixture consists of low-melting glass and metal oxides.
  3. Faceted stained glass. This type of stained glass is made of cut glass (chamfers are made along the edges). This is an excellent option for the manufacture of cabinets with stained-glass windows, door partitions or decorative windows.
  4. Very often in the interior you can find painted stained glass. And the painting of stained-glass windows can be mastered by yourself. You can buy special stained-glass paints in an art shop, but you can decorate with anything you like.

How to make a stained glass window?

Stained glass in the interior can be found not only on the windows or doors of the cupboard. You can paint a plate or a jug, and from the usual transparent frame for a photo to make a work of art.

There are two types of paints for stained glass. With their help, you can develop a child's imagination and offer a truly fascinating hobby for an adult. For the manufacture of children's stained-glass windows there are special ready-made contours and colors. You can choose with a crumb any drawing you like (for the beginning it's better to use simple ones) and transfer it to a file folder. Just put the file on the drawing and move the contour to the disk marker. You can do this not with a marker, but with a special outline. Be sure to make sure that the contour is applied with a continuous line. Otherwise, the paint can spread and mix. Let the contour dry. Now you can start painting your stained glass. The figure should dry for at least 12 hours. When everything is dry, the colors will turn into a film. This film can be removed and transferred to a window or a mirror. Children's stained-glass windows are good in that they are easy to remove and they do not spoil the surfaces.

For older children, you can suggest making the stained-glass window burned with paints. How to make a stained glass in this technique? Try with a child to decorate a transparent jug or a simple glass vase. The drawing should be applied in a familiar way, but immediately on the surface of the vase. Then put a contour and paint on top of the marker. Next, the vase needs to be sent to the oven. Such dishes can be safely washed and in the dishwasher, the main thing is not to rub the drawing with hard brushes.
