Fenech as a pet

Fenech - a tiny fox, living in the deserts of North Africa. The name of the animal originated from the Arabic fanak - "fox". The weight of the chanterelle is about 1.5 kg, the length of its body is 30-40 cm, not considering the tail. The tail of fennels is very long - up to 30 cm.

Fenech in the nature

Where the Phenec dwells, there is always a lot of heat. Their special ears, 15 cm long, help to cool the animal's body and protect it from heat. And fluff on the feet of the animal allows him to run on hot sand.

Fenech prefers to dwell in thickets of grass or small shrubs. They serve as a fox and a shelter, and a source of food. The animals dig their own holes with a lot of moves and live with their families. Feneki are nocturnal.

Fenech, or steppe fox, eats roots and fruits of plants, insects, small vertebrates. Without water, a small animal can stay for a very long time, it receives the necessary liquid from berries and plants that it eats. In addition, the feneki are very resourceful, they always have food.

In 8-9 months, the phoenicians reach puberty. These foxes reproduce once a year. The young fennel at birth weighs only 50 grams. Until the two-week-old puppy, the mother remains with them in the den, the male brings food to them. Each pair of Pheniks settles on a separate plot, these animals are monogamous.

Habitats of the feneka: Central Sahara, Sinai and Arabian Peninsula, northern Morocco, as well as Sudan and Niger.

Contents of the feneka at home

Fenech is the only fox that you can keep at home. But keeping a home feneka is much more difficult than a dog or a cat.

These animals are nocturnal, so at night they can give their owners anxiety, that is, at night it is better to leave the feneka in a separate room.

Chanterelles feneki at home are well and calmly get on with other pets. But, since the phene is still a wild animal, and it began to live with people only recently, sometimes other domestic animals can provoke a fox on aggression. For the same reason, you can not start a feneka if there are very young children at home. But cats and phoenicians can even play together.

These foxes are very mobile and they need a lot of space, so a small apartment for them will not work. Ideal will be a spacious aviary or a separate room, in which the living conditions of the fox will be as close to natural as possible. Do not forget about the thin hearing of a feneka. High noise can damage the hearing of the animal, so it is necessary to protect it from loud sounds.

Also in the house where the chanterelle lives, it must be very warm, because it comes from hot places. If the phene gets cold, it is very difficult to cure it, and sometimes it can die because of a cold.

On average, the phoenicians live 10-15 years. With good handling and proper care this beautiful chanterelle can live and more.

Caring for a petem

To take a feneka to his home is better than a small one, and immediately begin to educate. You can not shout at the fox or make sudden movements with him. These chanterelles are very timid. They are difficult to train, they will always be dominated by natural instincts. But they get used to the tray quickly.

While planting the house of the fox, many do not know what the phene eats out of the will. You can feed them with feral tails (cereals + lean meat), sometimes pamper them with insects and mice. You can also feed dry food for kittens. I'm not going to give food from the table to foxes.

In advance, take care of toys that can be gnawed. Otherwise, the phenome will begin to gnaw furniture and wires. Also he will be glad to a small container with sand.

It is necessary to vaccinate in time. Suitable for all vaccines used for dogs.
