Atomium


Perhaps the most important event of the 20th century, which forever changed the life of the world community, was the study of the atom and the use of its energy in various branches of human life. The most important symbol of Brussels is the Atomium, which is devoted to the peaceful use of atomic energy.

Complex construction of the Atomium

The monument is the brainchild of André Watercane and represents a multiply magnified iron molecule. Its height reaches 102 meters, and the structure consists of nine spheres with a diameter of 18 meters and a lot of connecting pipes. Most of the spheres (six) are open to tourists. Inside each there are escalators, corridors connecting separate parts. The central tube is equipped with a high-speed elevator, which in a few seconds will take you to the restaurant or to the observation deck, which offers stunning panoramic views of the capital.

You can visit the Atomium in Brussels all year round. When planning a sightseeing visit, see the mode of work, which changes somewhat during the holidays. So, the Atomium is open daily from 10:00 to 18:00, except on December 24 and 31, when its work is carried out from 10:00 to 16:00 hours and on December 25 and January 1, when it is possible to inspect from 12:00 to 16:00 hours. Visits are paid. Admission price for adults - 12 euros, for children 12 - 17 years - 8 euros, 6 - 11 years - 6 euros. Kids who are not yet 6 years old can go for free.
