Many of us are owners of suburban areas, and even suburban houses. Cultivating their vegetables and fruits on such territory, we want to get a good harvest of quality products for our table.
Such vegetables as carrots , potatoes, onions, garlic , beets and others can be stored fresh until at least the middle of winter, and even until the new harvest. But in order to maintain the highest level of vitamins in them, and the fruits themselves do not spoil, you need to know how to do it right. In particular, for storage of vegetables use specially designed for this box. They come in different forms - let's find out which ones!
Boxes for storing vegetables in the cellar
The ideal place for these purposes is a cellar or a cellar. Due to its microclimate, the underground room allows for a long time to store most of the vegetables there, so that they do not fade, do not germinate and do not freeze. And for a more convenient and compact placement of different types of vegetables use different containers:
- wooden boxes - they can store absolutely any vegetables, as well as solid fruits. This container is the most durable and has a long service life, but the tree is rotted;
- plastic boxes - fit, if your cellar is too wet. The plastic is convenient to wash and disinfect. There are two- and three-tier boxes;
- also often use wicker boxes and baskets, which are compactly placed on the shelves of the cellar. In such containers you can keep onions, garlic, root vegetables. The main advantage of wicker boxes is ventilation: the vegetables in them are well ventilated and thanks to this they stay longer.

Boxes for storing vegetables on the balcony
A regular balcony can become a substitute for a cellar. It is desirable that it was insulated or at least glazed - most vegetables are best preserved at plus temperature. But even if you do not have a loggia, but a regular open balcony, you can still keep the vegetables there. You just need to choose the option that suits you:
- deep wooden boxes for storing vegetables such as potatoes, cabbage, beets that can "hide" under the seat of a high puff or balcony sofa;
- metal boxes for storing vegetables - they resemble a large and capacious chest. Manufactured in an industrial way, such containers create optimal conditions for temperature, humidity and air circulation for better storage of vegetables;
- homemade boxes are not less convenient. You can warm any wooden or plastic box, paving it from the inside with a heater, and making holes for ventilation;
- a more practical option is a heated box for storing vegetables on the balcony. As a source of heat in this capacity is a low-power dryer that will be turned on and off automatically by means of a relay, or a conventional incandescent lamp.

Boxes for storing vegetables in the kitchen
Not all of us have the opportunity to store vegetables in the cellar, and many owners of apartments on the first floor do not even have a balcony! The only option remains - the kitchen, where vegetables are stored either in the refrigerator or in specially equipped boxes.
In the refrigerator there is a special compartment for vegetables, where perishable vegetables are put.
As for the boxes, their configuration and appearance will accordingly depend on the dimensions and design of your kitchen:
- modern design techniques allow you to equip the kitchen with built-in storage systems: with closed doors, no one suspects that inside these lockers there are vegetables;
- it can be simply drawers built-in or a separate cabinet - it is recommended to keep vegetables that are well kept in the heat (for example, pumpkin or tomatoes);
- if your kitchen is decorated in the style of Provence or rustic, the wicker boxes for vegetables can and do not hide from prying eyes - they, on the contrary, will emphasize the special cosiness of this cuisine.
