Doll on the teapot - master class

An interesting accessory for the Russian people for a tea ceremony was a textile hot-water bottle on a teapot or a samovar made in the form of a doll. Today, long forgotten traditions return to our everyday life. And to your attention we offer a master class, how to make your own heating pad in the form of a doll on a teapot.

MK: how to sew a doll on a kettle

It will take:

  1. We measure the kettle and by its dimensions we increase the pattern of details of the doll on the teapot, using the silhouette of the Cake Angel of the Tilda doll.
  2. We cut out in a pattern (1) from flax two details of a trunk, leaving 1 sm of allowances on seams. Fold them with faces and stretch them on the sides, leaving the bottom untouched.
  3. In the places of bending and rounding we make scissors with scissors, we smooth the allowances in different directions.
  4. We turn the body blank to the front side.
  5. We stuff the upper part of the doll up to the armpits with filler and along the line, where the stuffing ends, we sew, slightly pulling the thread so that it does not fall out.
  6. For the warmer, using the halves of the pattern of the lining (2), we cut out 2 details from the coarse calico, leaving the allowances on the sides of 7 mm, and at the bottom - 1-1.5 cm. We also cut out 2 parts from the synopon, but we leave only 1.5 mm allowances to the sides.
  7. We put together details from the synthepone of the detail from the coarse calico and we spread it along the sides so that there is an opening of 8-10 cm from the top or on the side for eversion.
  8. We insert the workpiece of the trunk into the parts of the heating pad with the faces and sew the lower edges in a circle.
  9. Through the left hole in the heating pad, we turn everything to the front side, and sew it by hand.
  10. We fill the heating pad in the trunk of the doll and fix it from the inside with a pair of stitches so that it does not fall out.
  11. At a height of 1/3 of the length of the skirt, we sew a wide frill of bright cotton fabric, making wrinkles and tucks.
  12. From the fleece we cut out and sew details of the dress (3) and collar (4).
  13. We embroider our eyes on the face, we make pink cheeks. On the head of the hair we make hair and put them in the hair.
  14. We dress the doll on the doll.
  15. We make an apron, we fix it on the breast with a button with a bow, we sew the sleeves and the bottom of the dress with braid and ribbon.
  16. Our wonderful doll is ready for the kettle!
