Clothing of the 19th century

The style of clothing of the 19th century divided the two main stylistic trends: the Biedermeier and the "period of fashion". A huge influence on the style of the 19th century was the French bourgeois revolution, which was reflected in European outfits. Mods of the time so rapidly changed their outfits, that to some extent they themselves became revolutionaries.

Men's fashion of the 19th century

Men's fashion was dictated by the Emperor Napoleon. In this case, everything is more than clear and concise. White linen, a minimum of ornaments. If a man of that time adorned himself with jewels, this was considered a sign of bad taste. Quality, but simple materials and strict straight cut - for men this was quite enough. The main task of the male population of that time was to fight and liberate. Wars and revolutions were everywhere, there is no fashion.

Women's fashion of the 19th century

But the women's dress of the 19th century played a very large role - it spoke of many things. Looking at the passing young lady, you could easily determine which estate she belongs to. The wife was for her husband a kind of visiting card. A chic dress, a small handbag, an umbrella to protect the white skin from the sun, gloves at any time of the year and, of course, a fan (a noble lady can skimp), brooches and bracelets - all this was obligatory for a wealthy class. On the street without these attributes no foot.

The presence of an apron or a cap in the dress of the 19th century indicated the belonging of his mistress to the working class or peasant class. A dress in the style of the 19th century, characterized as an empire (from the French - "empire"), originally appeared in France. And if the male style of clothing of the 19th century was influenced by Napoleon's imperial influence, then the beautiful Josephine and her tailor Leroyar tried. A dress with a short bodice trimmed with a ribbon, an overstated waist and a softly flowing fabric that emphasizes the shape of the body with each movement. The ribbon from the chest is tied on the back in a beautiful bow, the ends of which must lie in the waves. The bodice was lined with complex patterns, gold and silver threads and precious stones. Empire - antique style, respectively, and patterns were executed in natural and ethnic motifs. Here in such outfits Leroyar dressed first the Louvre, and after all the Europe.

The history of dresses of the 19th century remembers a lot of changes in fashion - more than once new styles have appeared, the outfits were supplemented with various accessories, gloves and shawls (which, incidentally, were very popular). The most daring ladies made cuts on their sides in a dress, and showed their beautiful legs while walking. The corset was not worn at the beginning of the century before last, everything had to be free and graceful.

But the years went by, and the styles of the dresses of the 19th century changed - the corsets began to be worn again, but already under the clothes.

Wedding dresses of the first half of the 19th century were different in style and color. But they became white only in the middle of the century, thanks to the English princess Victoria. Delicate white color, pearls adorning the outfit, and, of course, the veil covering the head of the bride, as a symbol of purity and purity - all this appeared in the second half of the 19th century.

Ballroom dresses of the 19th century were distinguished by luxury and wealth. Expensive fabrics and silk, deeper cuts, crazy chevaliers, and a long train. Sleeves "flashlights" for young girls and open shoulders for the older generation, although everything depended on the taste of the owner. Beautiful dresses of the 19th century must have complemented the jewelry on the neck. Their absence is a sign of a bad tone, and the presence spoke of consistency. Years passed, our outfits were much simpler due to many factors, but one thing remained almost unchanged - as before, the dress speaks volumes, creating the first impression of a person and helping us express ourselves.
