How many mosques in Moscow?

In every megalopolis live people of different faiths: Orthodox and Catholic Christians, Muslims, Jews, Hindus and others. Each of them is required to go to different temples, but sometimes they are difficult to find independently. Temples and cathedrals are also important sights, and some of them are considered "business cards" of the city (for example, St. Basil's Cathedral ). In this article we will tell how many mosques are in Moscow and where they are.

Historical

This is the first mosque in Moscow. It was built in 1826 on the land of merchant Nazarbay Khamalov, now it is the Bolshaya Tatar lane. But only in 1881 the building acquired all the elements of the Muslim prayer house - a minaret and a dome. Since 1930, it was closed, and it housed various institutions. Restored its work only in 1993 on the donations of the Saudis.

Cathedral

This is the second constructed Muslim temple in the capital. The mosque is located in Vypolzov Lane. She acted continuously, even in Soviet times. Now only reconstruction works are carried out in it. This mosque in Moscow is better to look on the map not at her address, but focusing on the sports complex "Olympic".

Memorial (on Poklonnaya Hill)

Built in honor of the dead Muslims during the Great Patriotic War. This mosque is one of the most popular in the city. Its interior combines elements of several architectural orientations of the East. With her, the community and the madrasah (school) are open.

Yardam (Yardyam)

To find this mosque in Moscow do not need to know the exact address, just get to the metro station "Otradnoe" and you will immediately see it. It has been operating since 1997. The architecture of the building resembles the buildings of the East. This mosque is part of a complex of unity of major religions.

In addition to the mosques listed in Moscow, there are two more Shiite mosques: on Novatorov Street and next to the Moslem temple in Otradnoye. This is not the final number of mosques in Moscow, they plan to build more in the future, but the city administration has not yet made a decision about when this will happen.
