How to insulate plastic windows?

Installation of metal-plastic windows is a reliable way to keep heat inside the premises provided that the profiles and the double-glazed window are correctly selected, properly installed and adjusted. Energy-saving glass package has a spray on the glass, filled with gas, metal fastenings between the glasses are missing. This combination will cost you more, but will reduce the level of heat loss by an order of magnitude.

Thermal insulation can be disturbed due to improper installation of the window (poorly blown openings), drying of mounting foam or poor-quality rubber gaskets.

Is it possible to insulate plastic windows by adjusting the profile

The most common cause of blowing is a loose fit of the leaf to the frame. The problem is solved by the usual adjustment of the profile.

  1. You will need a pliers or a furniture hexagon.
  2. Opening the sash, in the handle area you will see a hexagonal hole.
  3. After twisting a little, you will see how the gap between the leaf will change.

  4. To improve the thermal insulation, it is necessary to make the gap minimal - the seal will be tightly pressed. In this case, the handle will "walk" more tightly.

The same manipulations must also be made on the side of the hinges, then the sweep will be as much as possible along the entire perimeter.

We heat plastic windows with our own hands

Warming plastic windows for the winter is easy!

  1. First of all, wash the window and frame, allow them to dry. Now it is necessary to glue a double-sided adhesive tape to the glazing bead.
  2. Walk a piece of cloth along the strip of tape to make sure that you have glued it in good faith.
  3. Now you need to remove the protective strip from the double-sided tape - start with the upper horizontal part, vertically, remove about 5 cm.
  4. Take the film, stretch it from both sides and start to glue. Gradually tear off the protective layer of adhesive tape and fix the film.
  5. After fixing on the window, it is necessary to fix the result with a cloth cloth - walk around the perimeter of the working area. This will save you from unwanted air bubbles along the length of the glazing bead.
  6. The final stage is "foaming". On this depends the durability of this thermal insulation. Suitable household dryer medium power. Direct the flow of hot air to the edges of the pasting.
  7. You have successfully coped with the task, it remains only to trim the edges of the remaining film.

If you did everything right, then a more expensive film can "stand" for several years. PVC material can withstand one winter. In any case, you will not even notice it on the window. Now you know what to insulate the plastic windows.
