The Oscar winner, the UN ambassador, the Hollywood ladies' man and the enviable groom, 43-year-old Leonardo DiCaprio, can boast of another achievement, including him in his resume.
A new living creature on Earth and a famous actor
A group of ecotourists, who went on an expedition to the Malaysian island of Borneo, at a picturesque waterfall discovered a previously unknown to science species of a water beetle.
After consulting with entomologists and describing the find, the enthusiasts decided to name the beetle in honor of American movie star Leonardo DiCaprio. The full name of the little black insect in Latin sounds like "Grouvellinus leonardodicaprioi".
In appreciation
Speaking about such an unusual choice, the researchers said that, thus, they wanted to acknowledge the enormous contribution of DiCaprio to the conservation of biodiversity on the planet and the prevention of global warming.
In addition, this year the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation, which is fruitfully engaged in environmental protection, established by DiCaprio, will celebrate the 20th anniversary of the beginning of the activity and this will be an excellent gift to its founder on the occasion of the jubilee.
By the way, Leo was very pleased with this honor. The actor immediately changed the avatar on his Facebook page to the image of the beetle, which is now his full namesake.

DiCaprio is not the only celebrity in whose honor the species of insects is named. For example, one of the types of water mites is named Jennifer Lopez, and the tropical spider is named David Bowie.
