Racist scandal around H & M: The Weeknd no longer wants to cooperate with this brand

The well-known Swedish brand H & M, which manufactures and sells clothes, has again found itself in the center of the scandal. The problem is in the politically incorrect online catalog of the company's products.

woke up this morning shocked and embarrassed by this photo. i'm deeply offended and will not be working with @hm anymore ... pic.twitter.com/P3023iYzAb

The fact that H & M clearly shows unhealthy trends, drew the attention of users of social networks. The recording appeared on Twitter. Attentive Internet users noticed a photo of a black boy dressed in a green sweatshirt with the inscription Coolest Monkey in the Jungle. It can be translated as "The coolest monkey in the jungle".

It is clear that this kind of visual solution looks very offensive, because a couple of dozen years ago, blacks were taken to compare with monkeys.

Is this a joke so unsuccessful, or did the marketers of the Swedish brand simply overlooked it?

Apology and negative consequences for the brand

Of course, the company's management could not ignore the resonance, which was caused by an ambiguous photo. The picture with the boy was removed from the site, but this marketing feil already has serious consequences for the company!

In the network there were also comments from H & M:

"We are very sorry that this photo was taken, we regret that we came up with this print. We have already removed this picture from all communication channels, the next step is the removal of the goods from the entire trading network. "

However, the problems have already begun - rapper The Weeknd, a native of Ethiopia, said that he was breaking business relations with the brand. The last joint collection of The Weeknd and H & M was released just a few months ago. It seems that it will be really the last. Here's what the musician wrote about this on Twitter:

"I wake up in the morning, I go on the Internet, and here it is! I experienced a whole range of emotions, including shock, disappointment, shame. My cooperation with H & M is over. "

Note that the brand H & M is famous for actively cooperating with famous fashion designers and celebrities. At various times, this company produced clothes in common with Carl Lagerfeld, Roberto Cavalli, Madonna, Kylie Minogue, Lana Del Rey and Katy Perry.

It is worth acknowledging that Swedish textile manufacturers do not seem to be able to learn from their mistakes. So, in 2015 they were already accused of calling the white models - the bearers of the positive image of their trademark. In addition, there is an opinion in society that H & M uses child labor in its production facilities located in the Southeast Asian countries without restrictions.
