To provide a comfortable life for a person in a modern apartment and a private house, there are usually a lot of different electrical appliances (kitchen, bathroom, heating system, TV sets , etc.), so the issue of saving energy is now very relevant.
One of the simplest, but effective and inexpensive, way of saving electricity is the use of programmable room thermostats when installing to heat the rooms of an electric boiler. These instruments are also called temperature regulators or room temperature sensors.
What is a thermoregulator for?
Often people who installed gas boilers in their homes face the problem that they constantly have to manually adjust the boiler's operation, as the temperature in the room becomes uncomfortable (either very hot or very cool). This can occur due to weather changes on the street or automatic shutdown of the boiler depending on the water temperature in the heating system. In this case, the boiler is regularly turned on and off, the water pump is running constantly and 20-30% of unjustified power loss occurs.
A room thermostat for an electric boiler regulates its operation depending on the temperature in the room.
How does the room thermostat work?
- You set the required temperature on the device.
- When the temperature is lowered by 1 ° C, the thermostat signals the boiler that it should turn on.
- The boiler starts heating the water in the system.
- When the temperature of the air rises by 1 ° C, more than it has been established, the thermostat sends a signal to the boiler, the need for shutdown.
- The boiler and the pump are switched off.
And so within 24 hours without the participation of a person.
It turns out that due to the fact that the air cools down much more slowly than water in the system, the number of inclusions of the boiler per day decreases, which contributes to less energy consumption and more comfortable stay in the room.
Types of room thermostats
For ease of use, there are several types of room thermostats:
- weekly and per diem - depending on the time period for which the heating system can be programmed;
- mechanical, electronic, electromechanical - depending on the method of installation on a room thermostat of the required temperature;
- wire and wireless (radio) - depending on the method of signal transmission for the boiler from the room thermostat and vice versa.
There are also so-called programmers - advanced programmable room thermostats, with which you can set different modes of heating the room depending on the time of day. Using the opportunity to set more than one temperature for day work, and two (day and night modes), you can set hourly change. For example:
- from 0 hours to 7 am - "night" mode;
- from 7 o'clock till 21 o'clock - "day";
- from 21 hours to 24 hours - "night".
Due to the fact that the boiler runs 10 hours at a lower temperature, not only electricity, but gas is saved.
When choosing a room thermostat model, it is necessary to take into account:
- possibility of laying wires;
- the number of required temperature conditions;
- the cost.
In case repair is already done or there is no possibility to lay wires around the house, then wireless models of thermostats that transmit signals at radio frequencies are chosen. If you need an inexpensive room controller, then you should choose mechanical wire models.
Practically all modern heating electric boilers have a board, which can be connected to an external room thermostat, but it is better to specify it at the time of purchase.
