Sabatini Gardens


Sabatini Gardens in Madrid is one of the masterpieces of parks that surround the Royal Palace . Therefore, if after a tour of the palace you rush north from it, you will find yourself in the Sabadini Gardens (Jardines de Sabatini), which are spread over 2.5 hectares.

The gardens received their name in honor of the architect Francesco Sabatini, who built stables for the royal family at the end of the 18th century. However, after these lands were selected by the new government of Spain, the stables were demolished (1933). In their place was organized the construction of a park zone under the leadership of Fernando Mercadal. Its opening took place in 1978, and at the request of King Juan Carlos I it was named in honor of the architect of the stables.

Neoclassical style of Sabatini Gardens

The gardens of Sabatini in Madrid are decorated in neo-classical style. They have a rectangular shape, they differ neatly with the shrubbery of boxwood and privet, clipped by coniferous trees, pleasantly gurgling fountains and sculptures. In the winter (01.10-31.03) the gardens are open every day from 10.00 to 18.00, in the summer (01.04-30.09) they work for two hours longer.
