Suspended ceiling from plasterboard

Suspended ceiling from gypsum board has long been popular among those who are planning repairs in the apartment. Especially if it is carried out independently, as with gypsum cardboard it is easy to level out all the flaws of the ceiling, which is difficult to achieve with plaster. In addition, such a ceiling can be mounted independently, in contrast to the complicated process of installing a stretch ceiling. And in terms of design when using a ceiling from gypsum board, you can make any niches and ledges, thus zoning the room and giving it its own unique design.

Types of suspended ceilings from plasterboard

Suspended plasterboard ceilings are divided into species depending on the number of levels. The level is formed by a drywall sheet located at a certain distance from the ceiling. In accordance with this, there are mainly single- and two-level suspended ceilings made of plasterboard, however, with complex design and specific customer wishes, it is possible to make ceilings with any number of levels. It should be remembered that even a simple ceiling made of plasterboard without recessed lighting will reduce the height of the room by at least 5 cm due to the large height of the profiles and 8 cm if the ceiling is integrated lighting. Consequently, the next level will be even lower, thus, initially quite high ceilings in the room are required, since they lose much in height.

Also, you should think in advance of the lighting of the suspended ceiling from plasterboard, whether it will be built into the ceiling in the form of small lamps and light-emitting diodes, or be placed on the walls or in the center of the room in the form of a large chandelier. This also needs to be solved at the planning stage, since during installation it will be necessary to hide wires under the ceiling with the desired location or to immediately build in the light elements in the right places. And finally, when deciding which gipsokartonny profile to purchase, remember about which room you are going to carry out repairs. For living rooms, bedrooms and halls, a regular gypsum plasterboard sheet (it has a gray color) is suitable.

To repair the same bathrooms should use a moisture-resistant gypsum cardboard (green).

Suspended ceilings from gypsum cardboard in the kitchen can be made of moisture-resistant (green) or fireproof (pink) material.

Design of suspended ceilings from plasterboard

The design possibilities for using a plasterboard ceiling are very wide. First of all it concerns the placement of lighting elements of the room: these can be small lamps recessed in the ceiling protrusions or a special integral illumination in combination with the main chandelier and various combinations thereof. The color of the lamps can also affect the appearance of the room: it can be fluorescent lights, blue, green and even pink LEDs. Lamps can also cast different shadows on the ceiling, creating interesting patterns. Lighting can come from the walls and not affect the ceiling, it can be projected by stars or pictures.

Multilevel ceilings make it possible to experiment with the shape of protrusions and levels, giving it both strict geometric lines and smooth outlines. In one design, the level can take the form of a flower, and another - a star. Color registration gives the room a uniqueness: levels can differ in colors, but can be performed in the same color scheme.

The main thing that should be taken into account when choosing the design of plasterboard ceilings is that they must be organically combined with the walls and floor design of the room, and also emphasize the design of the furniture and the overall style of the room.
