Types of parquet

People who appreciate natural materials for finishing the floor in the room, usually choose parquet. It has good wear resistance, does not absorb heat and nicely complements the interior. Another significant plus - in the market of finishing materials are presented different types of parquet, differing in price, quality and appearance. This greatly simplifies the choice of material.

What is parquet?

It should be noted that the parquet has several classifications, which are based on different indicators. One of the main is sorting by the method of sawing and the presence of so-called "sapwood" (loose timber on the outer logs, which has a low density). Here you can select several types:

  1. Radial parquet . The product of the highest grade with impeccable texture, without mechanical damage and wood defects.
  2. Select . Higher grade without sorting by cutting.
  3. Natur . Also belongs to the highest grade, but allows small knots (1-3 mm) and no more than 20% of sapwood.
  4. Rustic . The first category of quality. There are color changes, knots, sapwood.

As a rule, 5-8% of the selection comes out of one log, 75% is of nature, and the rest is in rustic.

Equally important is the classification according to the dimensions, thickness of the board and the method of attachment. Here you can identify the following types of natural parquet:

  1. Piece of parquet . It is a set of slats with grooves for fastening. Planks consist of hardwood (larch, pine, birch, hornbeam). Dimensions of the plates: thickness 15-23 m, width 75 mm, length up to 500 mm.
  2. Massive parquet . Has the following dimensions of the slats: thickness up to 22 mm, width 110-200 mm, length up to 2500 mm. It should be noted that this type of parquet is the most expensive.
  3. Parquet in the form of tiles . They consist of two layers - external (valuable tree species) and internal (coniferous substrate). Parameters: length from 400 to 800 mm, thickness of the plate - 20-40 mm.
  4. Parquet board . Formed by gluing several layers of wood. The top is impregnated with oil or protected by varnish.
