For those who decided to test their strength in carpentry, there is one of the simplest works - this is the manufacture of a table top made of wood by oneself. There are two ways how to make the table with your own hands: from solid wood or from carpentry boards. The first option is too complicated in processing and expensive. Therefore, let's consider the sequence of manufacturing table tops in the form of a shield.
Kitchen top in wood with own hands
The best types of wood for making countertops are teak, walnut, cherry, cherry, oak.
- For work we may need such tools and materials:
- wooden boards with antiseptic impregnation;
- clamp;
- jointer and plane;
- electric jigsaw;
- joiner glue;
- sandpaper;
- varnish or paint.
The boards for the countertop must be of the same thickness. Before tackling the work, boards should be well dried. We process the surfaces of all boards using a planer and a jointer, paying special attention to the edges. With the help of an electric jigsaw at the side ends of the blanks, we cut the grooves with a depth of about 1 cm. Now we need to take half of the boards and paste the mounting rail into their slots. After that, boards with slats connect with those that have free grooves. To do this, the projecting edges of the slats are lubricated with joinery glue and neatly inserted into the grooves. After the end of the assembly, all boards are compressed using clamps and left to dry. The resulting single surface should be carefully ground. The worktop is ready for further installation. It is possible to impart a certain decor to paint the table top or to cover with furniture varnish. As practice shows, it is not so difficult to make a table top made of wood by oneself. To do this, you need to have the right tools and the desire to do something yourself.
