Toilet bowl

Comfort of our life is inconceivable without good plumbing. There are several types of toilet bowls , the characteristics of which depend on the usability. Buying and installing a toilet bowl is very important and you should carefully study the nuances of this product before you go for plumbing.

By the method of installation the tanks are divided into:

Varieties of tanks

A hinged flush tank for the Soviet-style toilet bowl was originally made of cast iron and was located almost under the ceiling in the toilet, and water poured out when it was pulled by a cord or a metal chain attached to the lever.

This option has remained in the past and replaced by a plastic tank for the toilet, which is considered the most budgetary. The quality of this design raises serious doubts about its reliability and durability.

Such a tank is installed behind the toilet at a height of about 50-80 cm from the floor and is connected by means of a rigid or corrugated pipe to the toilet of any design. It is convenient to maintain (repair, clean) if necessary, and on modern products there is a double-drain button.

More reliable, beautiful and quality will be a ceramic toilet bowl or a compact. It is installed on a special toilet area and does not require hanging on the wall. Ceramics are more durable, and spare parts are subject to replacement.

And the third option - this is another kind of plastic tank, however, already a premium class. This is a tank made of thick polypropylene, mounted in the wall at the stage of bookmarking all communications.

This device allows you to make the room more aesthetic. Also, precious meters of useful area will be saved, because with this arrangement the toilet is placed close to the wall.

How many liters in the toilet bowl?

An important point of buying is knowing about the capacity of the toilet bowl. It happens to be different, although according to the Soviet GOST there were 6 liters and many are sure that the situation has not changed. But modern manufacturers offer their products with a capacity of 6 to 10 liters and the more it is, the more efficient the discharge in the tank.

In addition, there is a so-called half-drain - when the button is divided into two parts, pressing one of them which follows only half the volume. This option is suitable for small needs, but for everything else you need a full tank. This button saves a lot of water, especially if the capacity of the tank is large.

Varieties of valves in tanks

Drain the water in the tank regulates the float, and depending on the type of lever they are divided into:

  1. In tanks for the toilet bowl of the Soviet model (old design), a Croydon valve is used. It moves vertically, driving a horizontal lever with a float.
  2. In the bulk of the average tanks, including compacts, a piston valve is used, where an axle is divided into two halves of the tank, which drives a horizontal piston.
  3. The most modern system is a membrane valve, which is similar to a piston valve, but it uses a membrane, the effect of which results in the drainage of a certain amount of water.

Regardless of the type of tank, it should be installed by a qualified plumber who knows all the nuances of this work. Both the toilet bowl and the tank should be placed on a perfectly flat plane in order to avoid later deformation and skewing. The installation should be carried out carefully, because any careless movement can cause damage to the ceramics.
