World Youth Day

The Second World War came to an end. Thousands of people died in the rear and on the battlefields, and afterwards, when the main nightmare ended, it was time for a gradual restoration of peace. Then, on November 10 , 1945, the World Federation of Democratic Youth (WFDY) was founded, fought against imperialism, for independence and the protection of the rights of young people. Since then, the date of the new holiday, World Youth Day, is 10 November - a symbol of the common struggle for peace, against social, national and racial oppression.

On the youth movement

Youth movement began to gain momentum even in the Russian Empire - to take even student unrest in the XIX century, leading to the assassination of Tsar Alexander II (1818-1881). In the events preceding the Revolution, students actively participated in movements like the Union of Struggle for the Emancipation of the Working Class (a Social Democratic organization founded by Lenin). During the Revolution, young people often supported the Bolsheviks in the ranks of the revolutionary proletariat.

After the consolidation of socialism in the world, youth organizations were established in all countries with such a regime (the Komsomol is the closest example to us). And to this day, young people are actively involved in politics, social life, and its influence is increasingly amplified.

The events of World Youth Day

One of the most famous events held on World Youth Day is the festival of youth and students. It is held in different cities and countries: in 2013, for example, it was held in Quito, the capital of Ecuador . Also it's just an excuse to have fun with friends, which, of course, is fond of the modern and not only the youth.

But not only. This holiday is first of all a wonderful occasion to remember that the strength is in unity, leave differences and reflect on the global problems of the world - such as war. It is not for nothing that the slogan of the above-mentioned festival reads: "Young people united against imperialism, for world peace, solidarity and social transformations". This day is a reaction to cruelty, destructive wars, to the numerous problems of the younger generation.

Young people are a big and very important layer of society. It is for her to build a new world, just for her - the future. Therefore, especially on November 10, the World Youth Day, it is important not to forget about such eternal values as kindness, harmony, the desire for peace and development for the better, which allow us to remain people.
