Ballroom Shoes

Being engaged in sports ballroom dances, it is known that a special footwear is not a whim, but a tool that helps to perfect the movements. In addition, dance ball shoes are a protection for the feet, because injuries during training are not excluded.

How to choose the right one

Choosing athletic ball shoes, you should pay attention to the following points:

  1. The presence of a supinator. Training shoes for ballroom dancing must necessarily be with the specified element. Its length depends on the program. In "latin", the load falls, mainly on the toe, that is, the short arch support will not hold the movement. For the "European" dance program, most of the pas in which begins with the heel, the shoes with an elongated arch support are relevant.
  2. Heel height. Shoes "standard" for ballroom dances ideally have a five-centimeter heel, sometimes - seven centimeters. For "Latina" dancers choose models with a heel height of 7.5 or 9 centimeters. Beginners are advised to choose shoes for sports ballroom dances with a heel not exceeding five centimeters. By the way, unlike ordinary shoes, in which the heel is cast or glued, in ballroom models it is twisted.
  3. Material. This is the case when the natural leather is not the most suitable material. The fact that it is very quickly stretched, and in shoes that do not fit tight, you can not dance, and even dangerous. Shoes made of artificial leather are free of this shortcoming. These models are ideal as training shoes. For performances, dancers often choose satin slippers, because they are bright, beautiful. But such models are impractical, because cleaning is almost not subject.
  4. Colour. It can be anything, but among professionals there is an opinion that shoes of neutral color are worn by dancers who are not sure of the correctness of the movements, because the foot in this shoe merges with the parquet, and the judges do not see any shortcomings.
