Utilization of various household and garden waste sometimes puzzles the cottagers. After all, for exporting all sorts of branches, weeds , fallen leaves, it is required to hire a lorry or store waste, and this is not always advisable, as they accumulate a lot during the season. In order not to suffer from this problem, as it often happens, it is possible to adapt an ordinary barrel for incineration of garbage and use it in a summer residence or a private farmstead.
What does a barrel look like for burning garbage in the country?
The garbage recycler is nothing else than the familiar two-hundred-gallon barrel of fuel and lubricants, which every farmer is sure to have, somewhere in the shed. If it accumulates dustlessly, then such a metal barrel can be successfully adapted to a garbage can.
In order for the combustion process to proceed quickly and actively, a blowing will be required. It can be done in various ways and it all depends on the skill of the gardener and the availability of tools. Most often in the side wall in its lower part is cut out a small window with a size of 20x20 cm, through which the traction will be carried out, and it will be convenient to rake out the ash.
If possible, for better circulation of air in the bottom, narrow long holes in the form of strips with a width of one and a half centimeters are cut through the grinder, from which the blowing will take place, and after burning out, ash will fall out.
If you do not have a serious cutting tool at your fingertips, you can do without it. For traction, you can make conventional holes in the walls of the barrel with the help of some sharp and heavy object - in this sieve the rubbish will burn out perfectly, leaving a handful of ash.
What can I burn in a barrel-stove?
As in any other case, when burning garbage in the country in an iron barrel, the summer resident has a responsibility to neighbors and the environment. This means that plant residues, paper, wood, food waste - everything that does not pollute the atmosphere are subject to utilization by burning. But rubber, plastic packaging (bags, bottles, etc.) is strictly forbidden to burn. By law, it is allowed to build a fire for any purpose when the distance to the nearest structures is at least 50 meters.
In addition, even burning the permitted garbage to do it in windy weather is impossible, since the smoke can be carried to a closely located site, and then troubles with neighbors are provided. For such works it is better to choose the time when people after the evening work are already at home to avoid conflict situations.
