In modern conditions of life, it is sometimes impossible to do without a car. And with children there is a question about their safety. To ensure the safety of the child during the movement, it is necessary to use a baby car seat or a special booster for transportation of older children.
Traffic rules regulate the special features of transporting children in a motor vehicle. Transportation of children over 12 years can be carried out in the front seat. To transport a child under the age of twelve in the front seat is not recommended. However, the SDA allows a young child to be in the front seat if the parents use special restraints. In doing so, it should be remembered that for the duration of the child's presence, the front airbag must be disengaged from the front. The child car seat itself should be set back forward in the course of travel. This position of the baby is due to the fact that before reaching the age of five years, he still weak neck muscles and head proportions are relatively large in comparison with the body. And with a possible frontal impact of the vehicle, the greatest burden falls on the cervical spine, which is still too weak for the child. As a result, the risk of neck injuries increases in the event of a traffic accident. Therefore, it is recommended that, at least until the child reaches the age of one year, place him in the car seat with his back in the direction of the car. And in some European countries it is advised to carry children backwards up to the age of five.
Why not carry a small child in the front seat?
Such a ban is due not only to the current traffic rules, but also because the front seat is the most dangerous in the car. It is most safe to carry children on the back of the car.
If a small child is in the front seat without a child car seat, the traffic police can impose a fine: in the Russian Federation - $ 100 from July 1, 2013. In Ukraine, the KOAP does not provide for penalties in the absence of a child car seat. However, Article 121 part 4 of the Code of Ukraine on Administrative Violations implies the imposition of a fine of $ 10 for violation of the rules for the use of seat belts.
Fines in European countries reach far greater figures: in Germany - $ 55, Italy - $ 95, France - $ 120. In the United States of America, the penalty for transporting a child without a car seat reaches a mark of $ 500.
Parents should remember that riding children in the front seat always presents an increased danger in the event of a possible traffic accident, since the main impact is most often on the front of the car. Therefore, it is recommended that small children be transported in child car seats and on the rear seats of the car. The child's age for riding in the front seat must be at least 12 years.
Also, you should carefully choose the baby car seat or auto - litter for the newborn , taking into account the child's age, physiological parameters. If the car seat is not properly secured, then regardless of the place of attachment (in the front seat or the rear seat), it also poses an increased risk to the child, as it can be harmful if it is not used correctly.
The safety of the child in the car is the primary task of the parents. And the place of transportation - front or rear seat - must be chosen taking into account the age of the child and the model of a child car seat.
