Bed of chipboard

Laminated chipboard today is quite often used in the manufacture of furniture, including beds. This material significantly reduces the cost of the finished product, but it must be understood that the reliability and safety of the bed suffers.

Pros and cons of a bed made of chipboard

The positive aspects include the following:

  1. Low bed cost. This material is obtained by gluing chips and sawdust remaining in the process of wood processing, so that, in fact, in the production of chipboard, financial costs are virtually non-existent.
  2. Good strength characteristics. In comparison with fiberboard, which is used only to create the head of the bed and other non-load-bearing elements, the chipboard can be used to make the more critical parts of the bed.

Disadvantages of beds made of chipboard:

  1. Harmful impurities. As is known, when gluing boards, formaldehyde glue is used, which then evaporates and is released into the environment. This is especially dangerous if the bed is of unchecked quality. In more modern products, harmful emissions are minimized. And yet, it is extremely undesirable to buy children's beds from the chipboard . It is better to spend more, but to get to the child a bed from 100% of an ecological file of a tree .
  2. Low external appeal. Of the chipboard make beds that are in the economy segment. Accordingly, there is no question of high aesthetics here. As a rule, products are rather patterned and primitive.

Bunk bed

No matter how we protest against the chipboard in the children's rooms, for the production of loft beds and bunk beds, this material is the most common.

In appearance, these beds are very colorful and attractive due to the upper laminating layer. Laminated plates in general are more durable and reliable, and even give hope for the safety of products for health.
