History of the French folk costume
The main features of the French folk costume developed in the XVII century. In those days peasants wore clothes from canvas and woolen cloth. Shirts and sweaters were sewn from the cloth with the addition of cotton thread.
After the Great French Revolution, festive costumes appeared, which differed in the style of the provinces. Breton women have introduced lace tattoos, corsages and bodices. A distinctive feature of the Flemish was a checkered shawl with a fringe. The Catalans had traditional mangoes in traditional clothes - they were delicate armbands from elbow to wrist, they also preferred bright and colorful colors.
