Gothic make-up

Gothic is one of the few youth subcultures that has held its popularity for many decades. Its external attributes are deeply aesthetic and often become a subject for imitation even for those people who are far from any kind of subcultures in general and from Gothic in particular. Gothic make-up is an integral part of the holistic Gothic image. And in this article, we'll talk about how to make Gothic makeup.

Gothic makeup

Far from the Gothic people sometimes believe that the make-up in the gothic style looks always the same, with the predominance of black - densely summed up black eyes, completely white face and black lips - a kind of home illustration to the horror films. It is also widely believed that such make-up is suitable only for Halloween or a costume ball. Meanwhile, variations on the topic of Gothic make-up mass, and everyone can choose for themselves something interesting and suitable (after all, it is not necessary to use the full "combat coloring", you can only use individual elements - so, the gothic eye makeup is great for the evening).

Main colors of Gothic make-up

The main colors of this makeup are black, shades of gray, red and blue. The skin of the face is necessarily bleached by special means, lips and eyes are brightly allocated.

Essential cosmetics:

How to make beautiful gothic makeup?

  1. Begin with the preparation: cleanse the skin and apply a suitable moisturizer for you. To skip this step is not necessary, because most of the tonal means used in Gothic make-up, have a sufficiently dense texture and dry the skin, resulting in appearing peeling or even irritation. Moisten it should not only on the face (do not forget to apply a special cream for eyelids and skin around the eyes and moisturizing lip balm), but also on the neck, in the decollete zone (if your clothing provides deep cuts in this zone).
  2. In especially important cases, when it is necessary to get perfect make-up, it is advisable to use leveling bases for make-up. Evenly and thoroughly apply the foundation for make-up, masking all the skin imperfections. The perfect tone is an obligatory part of make-up "gothic", so take it seriously.
  3. Apply to the entire face, neck and decollete the tone for the face (as already mentioned, it should be slightly lighter than your skin). Toning the skin should be complete, not missing the slightest patch. It is not always possible to use fully white theatrical make-up - it suits very few people, and most people with a completely white face look ridiculous.
  4. After applying a tonal basis, you should fix the tone with a powder (the same color or transparent).
  5. If you want to emphasize the cheekbones, do not use rouge, and the powder for tone-two is darker than the main color on your face. The effect of "sunken cheeks" in Gothic makeup is welcome, but is not mandatory, so you can skip this step if you want.
  6. Apply shadows on the upper eyelid along the line of growth of the eyelashes, well shading them. If you want to use several colors - the brightest ones are located closer to the inner side of the eye, and the darkest ones are used on the outer corner of the eye. Precisely on the same principle, put a shadow on the lower eyelid. The hollow between the bone and the eyelid is emphasized by a black matte powder (from the outer corner of the eye to the middle of the century the band should be slightly wider, then gradually narrow to the inner corner).
  7. Apply eyeliner to the eyelids along the line of eyelash growth. You can use a soft pencil instead of a pencil. It is necessary to bring the eye completely, and not only in the upper eyelid. Darken with the pencil the inner side of the lower eyelid (moist, the one that is closer to the eye).
  8. Carefully apply mascara (can be in two or three layers with interruptions between applications for 2-3 minutes).
  9. Use dark matte shadows to give a beautiful shape to the eyebrows.
  10. With the help of a contour pencil "make" the shape of the lips (far beyond the natural contour, do not go out, a maximum of 1-2 mm). Shade the entire surface of the lips with a pencil.
  11. Apply lipstick, pat dry with a dry napkin and repeat the application to make the color of the lips more saturated and persistent.

As you can see, it is not so difficult to make gothic make-up, you just need to practice a little and choose the colors and methods of applying cosmetics that are most suitable for you.
