The water collector is a system of pipes for the distribution of the coolant in heating systems. In other words, the water distribution manifold is a pipe with several outlets for connecting other pipelines. Collectors are used not only for warm floors , but also for water supply systems.

Principle of operation of the water reservoir

The manifold pipe has an external and internal thread. Their number depends on the number of circuits (from 2 or more). From the top there is a supply manifold, where the coolant is supplied. If this is a part of the underfloor heating system, the coolant is then returned to the return collector, and from there to the heating boiler.

Different equipment can be attached to the water manifold, depending on the configuration of which several types of collectors are distinguished:

  1. Exits for "eurocone" - the simplest equipment, which is most often used for installing a conventional water supply system.
  2. Valves at the exits. Such collectors are produced mainly by Chinese manufacturers. They are used for warm floors without any automation, usually in small houses.
  3. Adjusting pipes plus fittings for metal-plastic pipes.
  4. Flowmeters on the feeder and jacks for servo drives on the return manifold. Used for contours of warm floors of different lengths.
  5. Collectors with a mixing knot and balancing valves.

In addition to buying, any master has the opportunity not to buy a water collector, but to solder it independently from polypropylene pipes and couplings, having purchased the necessary equipment.

Mounting the water collector to the wall is carried out using clamps and plastic dowels. Also this can be done with the help of special brackets. Usually, the water collector is located in a compact and neat collector cabinet or in a wall niche.
