How to properly carpet?

How to lay carpet on a concrete floor?

For laying the carpet we need the following tools and materials:

  1. Before buying a carpet, we accurately measure the required surface area, not forgetting the thresholds. To the result, add 1-2 square meters. m in stock. As a rule, in order to lay carpet on concrete, the substrate must be leveled, if necessary, plastered, and also covered with a primer that increases adhesion. The substrate is placed under the carpet. If you intend to lay carpet on a wooden floor, then, as experts advise, it is better to pre-level this coating with plywood sheets.
  2. Acquired carpeting should be cut. For this, the material is laid on the floor and carefully adjusted to the dimensions of your room. Places for pipes, various ledges or niches are cut with a sharp knife.
  3. We will fix the carpet with the help of double-sided scotch tape. We paste it on the floor in parallel strips with a step of 50-60 cm, and between them we paste oblique strips.
  4. Now the carpet weave on the tape.
  5. If the carpet is to be laid on the steps of the staircase, then it is better to use the adhesive method. In this case, special glue or PVA is used to fix the coating.
  6. The edges of the carpet should be decorated with a skirting board. It is better, if it will have a front side, intended for pasting. With this plinth, you need to remove the protective film.
  7. It remained on the sticky part of the plinth to attach the cut strips of carpet, having the necessary width.
  8. On the edge of the steps it is necessary to attach a special corner, and the line of joining the carpet and the other covering should be decorated with a decorative doorway.
