Description

The lake belongs territorially to the Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park. It was formed in the crater of an ancient volcano due to underground sources. Serenity and calm surround the smooth surface of the reservoir, and on its surface reflects Mount Fuji . The name Asya is translated as a "reed lake". The water here never freezes.

There are many fish in the lake, therefore fishermen are attracted here as a magnet. Boats and boats run along the pond, water-skiing vacationers go on trips. Along the shore there are lodges for holidaymakers, berths, between which boats run around the lake. If you sit on a cruise boat, you can admire the surrounding beauty.

There is a legend that at the bottom of the lake there lives a three-headed dragon who stole beautiful girls and was punished for it - chained to the bottom. Feeds his monk, who comes to the red gate, set right at the water. Lake Asya is also famous for the Fukara-Yesui tunnel, pierced in the mountains.

Water tunnel

The village of Fukara suffered without water, in it there were many farmers growing rice. From Asi Lake they were separated by a mountain. The head of the village decided to break through the tunnel. The water in the lake belonged to the temple of Hakone, but the village leader received permission from the chief monk to take water for the province of Shizuoka, the government of Japan did not object. Nobody believed in success. Digging began on two sides, and five years later met halfway. The calculations turned out to be accurate. The length of the tunnel was 1280 m. It was in the XVII century. The villagers were happy and in every way admired their leader. However, the government suspected him of espionage, supposedly a tunnel was needed for the conspirators. The man was condemned and executed. It is noteworthy that the province of Shizuoka remained the only one who has the right to take water from Lake Asi.
