Temporary exhibition that decorated the streets of Cape Town
In the period from 1996 to 1998 in the streets of Cape Town began to appear unusual drawings, decorating buildings, houses, stops. This temporary exhibition was called the Mau-Mau Gallery and gave birth to a new direction in art, which later was called countercultural. The aim of the experimental site was the creation of conditions conducive to the disclosure of the talent of young people of different nationalities and social status. The ideological inspirer of the project was David Robert Lewis, a local activist.
Works and their creators
The exhibits of this unusual gallery are graffiti drawings, considering that you understand that their creators tried to change the foundations, erase the boundaries and forget about the conventions with which modern society is burdened. Gallery Mau-Mau gave a ticket to the life of the now-demanded artists of the country, the most famous of which are Maluka, Ward, Clark, de Veta, Beyla.
