Pissourno Palace


In one of the most expensive and popular areas of Buenos Aires is a luxury building, which is interesting for tourists and lovers of excursions . It's about the famous Pissurno Palace. In its walls there is a lot of cognitive, and the elegance and chic of the building pleases the eye of every visitor.

A bit of history

The palace building was built in Versailles style between 1887 and 1888. His architect was Carlos Adolfo Althelt. The palace was the property of Mrs. Petronili Rodriguez. She received the building by inheritance and started a radical restructuring. In 1882 the owner died and bequeathed a legacy to the city. Unfortunately, the construction of the palace was finally completed only a few years after the death of the mistress.

The government, having received such an "inheritance", decided to make a temple and a school in the palace. After 15 years, instead of the temple, a huge library began to function in the building, but there were also school classrooms. Today there is a large picture gallery of great artists of past eras and the National Library of Teachers.

What is interesting about the building?

The large and beautiful Pissurno Palace consists of three floors. On its roof there are cone-shaped gray-emerald towers, which shimmer with different shades under the sun's rays. The facade of the building is decorated with columns. At the corners of the palace, under the balconies are statues that were created during the construction of the building. The balconies themselves are painted with stone carvings and are illuminated with neon lights in the evening.

Inside the palace you can admire the magnificent rich decoration of the Middle Ages. High columns in the halls against the background of the copper-emerald panel walls, huge paintings and elegant lamps create an overall picture of luxury, which affects absolutely all visitors.

What to see?

In our time in the palace of Pissurno you can see the famous exhibition-gallery. It included the work of young artists in 1935. Their creations were not easy competitive selection, and now the best of them are painted on the walls of the palace as exhibits. In the left part of the building there is a huge National Library of Teachers of the country. Access to tourists in it is limited, you can admire and appreciate only two halls and a collection of books that are exhibited in them

How to get there?

The Pissurno Palace is located in the Buenos Aires district of Recoleta. Near it is the bus stop Paraguaya, to which you can take buses Nos. 111 and 132. If you are traveling by car, then you need to go along Paraguay Street to the intersection with Psahye Pisurno. Literally 300 m from the intersection there is a palace, to find it you will help special signs on the walls of houses.
