Stretch fabric

Stretch fabric (another variant of pronunciation - stretch, since the name itself is formed from the English word stretch - "stretch") - a special kind of any material to which in the manufacturing process a synthetic elastic thread is added. Usually, for these purposes, fibers of elastane, lycra or spandex are used. Such materials are widely used for sewing a variety of clothes.

Advantages and disadvantages of stretch fabric

As the main material, to which the elastic thread is added, satin, denim, any knitted fabric, jacquard and many others can act. That is, almost any canvas in the manufacture can be made more stretchable. In total, the percentage of synthetic fibers in such tissues can be from 1 to 30%, and the higher it is, the more elastic the material is.

Depending on the method of making such fabrics, two types are distinguished: bi-stretch (when the synthetic thread is added to both the warp threads of the fabric and to the weft threads, which allows the resulting material to stretch in both directions) and mono-stretch (when the fibers are elastane or lycra are present only in the duck or the base, such tissue stretches only along or across).

The main advantage of such a fabric is the possibility of an ideal fit of a figure in the shape with all the anatomical features taken into account. It is thanks to the stretch fabric that it became possible to sew jeans and skinny trousers that fit perfectly around the leg. Also, such materials are actively used to create stage and sports costumes.

The second advantage is the increased wear resistance of stretch fabrics. They lose their shape less during socks, they are more difficult to tear or rub. At the same time, all the advantages of natural fibers used in production remain, such materials breathe, the body in them feels quite comfortable.

The disadvantage of stretch fabrics is the difficulty in taking care of things from it, washing and ironing them is only necessary at the temperature indicated on the labels, and it is better to dry it on a hanger or even a mannequin, since synthetic fibers can give some shrinkage during the washing process. Such fabrics also can not be ironed with the use of steam.

Things from a stretch fabric

It is worth mentioning some of the most popular models of things that are made of stretch fabric.

This, of course, a variety of models of jeans, stretch , perfectly fitting figure, emphasizing all the forms and harmony of the legs. These jeans have become a must-have modern girl and fit absolutely for any occasion: to go to school or work, to walk, to go out of town. Due to the elastic threads in the fabric of the stretch jeans not only fit well, but also do not constrain movement, so in such jeans, almost any activity is allowed.

Pants-stretch appeared after elastic jeans. They fell in love with busy girls who need to always look perfect, but there is no time for daily ironing of trousers. Usually such pants are made on the basis of cotton.

Many are also interested in the answer to the question, what kind of fabric is knitwear-stretch. Such material is also made with the use of elastic threads, but instead of weaving warp and weft yarns, the binding technique is used. From such material, T-shirts, T-shirts, dresses, skirts and much more are made.

Has found application стрейч and in shoe manufacture. Boots-stretch - this is often the only way to choose a comfortable and maximum fitting model, when the calves are too thin or you want to choose shoes that cover both the knees, as well as the upper part of the leg, that is, the boots-stockings.
