The Moscow Dragon

Decorative breed of dogs Moscow dragon withdrew not so long ago. Her ancestors were aboriginal dogs in Moscow. It has long been known that in a relatively closed community of animals, it is easy to identify characteristic phenotypes, that is, primitive primordial rocks are formed. It is easy to see on the example of homeless dogs that live in a certain region.

History of the breed

The history of this breed originates in 1988. Zoo engineer by education and cynologist Zoya Kostyna on the street picked up a small homeless puppy. From an animal of brown color, a pretty Kari dog with an unusual type of woolen coat grew up. The coat was stiff and sparse, a crest on the head, and the mustache and beard made it unlike other dogs of known breeds. When Kari grew older, she was crossed with a male Micron of sable color of a similar type. He was also picked up on the street. The result of the mating was four tiny puppies of different colors: black-tan, red, fawn and wolf. Kostyna was very interested in this, and she decided to fix the breed, crossing Mikron and Lika - a bitch of a similar type of fawn color. Born Krosh turned out to be a copy of Micron. However, further matings disappointed the dog handlers, because the phenotype was absent. Only in 1994 it was possible to consolidate the result, and in 1998 it was time to declare a new breed.

Based on the standard developed by Z. Kostyna, L. Ivanova and N. Karpysheva, the breed of the Moscow dragon was first brought into the IX group, and later transferred to V, where primitive rocks are represented. However, until now FCI did not recognize this breed.

Breed description

Moscow dragons are small dogs, possessing features of a wool cover. All animals have a characteristic shirt: a rare awn, a comb, a small beard, a thin whisker. Representatives of the breed can have a short and long undercoat, and the color of the Moscow dragon is allowed by anyone except spotted. While there are descriptions of animals only with red, sable, brown, tan, black, cap, blue and wolf colors.

The character of the Moscow dragons is complaisant, but they often show aggression to other dogs. However, despite this, the dragons get along with wolfhounds, greyhounds, sheepdogs, poodles and even rabbits, and cats. They are smart, easy to learn, loyal and playful. The character of the puppies of the Moscow dragon needs to be adjusted from the first days, otherwise the dog will grow disobedient. In the education of the Moscow dragon, all members of the family should take part, because the slightest weakness is that the dog feels himself the master of the house.

Care

Dragons are of household origin, so there are no special requirements in their content. Daily care for the Moscow dragon is reduced to walking and feeding. The wool cover is hard enough, so there is no need for daily to comb the animal. It is enough 2-3 times a week to walk along the wool crest. Feeding the dog is also not difficult - the Moscow dragons are almost omnivorous, they do not eat food.

If you have a desire to train a dog in courses OKD, then this is quite real. Moscow dragons along with large dogs are able to perform the tasks set by the trainer. Only high barriers can become an obstacle.

The health of these dogs deserves special attention. Practically no illnesses to Moscow dragons are not terrible, because for a long time their ancestors learned to survive on city streets, where conditions are not the most comfortable and safe.
