The Espanyol Theater in Madrid is one of the oldest and most beautiful theaters in Europe. Its history dates back to the Middle Ages, when on the court yard there were simply scenes that later became classics. Then it was an open-air theater in which works by Spanish writers and playwrights were staged. Next was built a full-fledged building for the theater, which survived many reconstructions. And only in the second half of the nineteenth century, the famous Madrid theater took its present form in the style of neoclassicism and was called "Teatro Espanol".
Excursions around Espanyol
The Espanyol Theater is located in St. Anne Square near the Lope de Vega Museum and is just a 5-minute walk from the main museums of the capital - the Prado Museum and the Thyssen-Bornemisza Museum . The visitor is given the opportunity to touch the behind-the-scenes life of the theater, to understand his device, to show how the creative and rehearsal process is going on. Also during the tour, the audience will visit the stage, in the Royal Lodge, the Tea Room, the famous Parnassio Hall, which outstanding playwrights used for meetings.
