Intignan Museum

By the way, you will not pass this museum, because it is 350 meters from the most famous place of the country - the equator, the border of the northern and southern hemispheres. The Museum of Intignan offers a lot of cognitive programs and entertainment, which will please both adults and children.

History of the Museum of Intignan

Intignan Museum (which means "The Way of the Sun") appeared in 1960 as the fruit of the idea of the scientist Umberto Vera, who wanted to tell the whole world about the life and culture of the Indians, about their unique astronomical knowledge. Indians of Ecuador knew that the earth was round, and that they lived in its middle long before the arrival of Europeans. Over time, the museum has become a unique ethnic entertainment complex, a real attraction of miracles.

For example, a fascinating experience with a sink in which water is poured. When the shell is on the line of the equator, the water flows down a smooth trickle down, but it is worthwhile to transfer the shell a few meters in one direction or another, like a stream of water begins to deviate from a straight trajectory: in the Southern Hemisphere, the water turns clockwise, while in the Northern Hemisphere - on the contrary. The usual chicken egg, which is very problematic to install on the nail head, will be on the hat on the equator as it is stuck. By the way, are you sure going blindfolded? Try to do this trick on the equator, and you will be waiting for a surprise! At the equator, gravity acts on both sides, so the body weight and resistance become smaller, maintaining balance is very difficult.

Exposition of the Museum of Intignan

The territory of Intignan Museum is equipped in ethnic style in the best traditions of South American peoples. The exposition has a stone sundial, with the help of which the Indians determined the time. In the large ethnographic zone there are traditional dwellings of different cultures existing in the country. For example, a house with items owned by an Indian family, who lived in these parts many years ago. A little farther, the frightening faces of the totems appear - stone sculptures symbolizing the Indian gods. There is also a living place: llamas and guinea pigs.
