The flooring of the parquet board remains today one of the most common. In addition to environmental friendliness and presentable appearance, it is distinguished by an acceptable price and a variety of color variations. However, in time, such an unpleasant feature as the scratch of a parquet can arise. Why this happens and how to get rid of the squeak of the parquet, we will discuss further.
Why creak the parquet?
There are a number of factors that provoke the scratching of the parquet. The main ones are:
- Uneven base of the floor . Low-quality work on leveling the floor before laying the parquet leads to deformation of the wooden elements of the parquet, as a consequence - we have its mobility and creak. If there is a layer of plywood or fiberboard between the cementitious screed and the parquet floor, this can provoke a creak in case of a loose fit to such a parquet substrate.
- No gaps between the parquet and the wall . When laying parquet should remain mandatory clearance between it and the wall of at least 10 mm. This is due to a characteristic of the parquet, as the expansion over time. If there is no such gap or it is small, a creak will appear over time.
- Incorrect laying of the parquet or its deformation . Laying parquet should produce a specialist, because you need to consider all the features of such a coating. If the laying is done with errors (for example, between the wooden elements too much or a small distance), this will cause a violation of heat and moisture insulation and deformation of the parquet , which will lead to its creaking and damage.
- Absence of a substrate or its wrong selection . The absence of a substrate or its insufficient thickness will eventually lead to deflection and movement of the parquet, especially in places of increased stress on this material.
How to remove a scratch of a parquet?
Eliminating the parquet scratch is not a difficult task if you can find out the reason for the appearance of such a squeak. What to do if the floor is creaking?
- In the absence of a substrate - lay it between the parquet and the base of the floor.
- If the boards of the parquet have moved away from the sheet of plywood or chipboard - use any available way of fixing them: apply dowels in problem areas, liquid nails or parquet pins.
- If the reason for the creaking is the absence of gaps between the parquet and the wall - gently cut the parquet boards on the sides by 10 mm.
- You can use specialized liquid formulations for bonding the substrate and parquet, which are injected under pressure into the problematic areas of the parquet.
