Wireless mouse does not work

Without a doubt, a wireless computer mouse is a very convenient and useful device. With its help it is possible to carry out all the necessary actions for working with a PC, without being confused with an ever-disturbing wire. However, this device is not immune from problems and in this article we will tell you what to do if the wireless mouse does not work.

Looking for the cause of unstable wireless mouse operation

If the mouse starts to work badly, then you do not need to immediately run to the store for a new one. Try to begin to look for the cause of unstable work, because the problem may not be in the mouse:

  1. If you suddenly find that your wireless mouse has stopped working, then first try to connect it to another computer. If it works, then the problem is clearly not in it.
  2. Try to rearrange the usb receiver of the wireless mouse to another connector. If you are using a desktop computer, move the receiver to the USB port on the back of the system unit. If the wireless mouse connected to the laptop is not working properly, also try changing the usb connector.
  3. The next thing to think about when there are malfunctions in the mouse is the replacement of batteries. Do not forget that for the stable operation of a wireless device, you need to replace old batteries with new ones in time.
  4. Also a common reason why the wireless mouse does not work, there may be a clogging of the laser. In this case, gently clean the device with a cotton swab or earwax.

Troubleshoot problems with the wireless mouse

If all of the above mentioned methods did not help restore your mouse to life or make it work smoothly, then perhaps the reason why the wireless mouse does not work is hidden in the software.

First, think about it and try to remember if you have recently installed new programs that can affect mouse operation to some extent. If this is the case, then try to uninstall this program and after restarting the computer, check the wireless device's functionality again. Did the mouse work? Hence, the faulty program is to blame.

If the wireless mouse defender or any other brand is still not working, you can try to find the reason in the Windows settings:

  1. To do this, using the keyboard and hot keys or using another working mouse, go to the "Hardware and Sound" menu on the control panel.
  2. In the "Devices and Printers" section, select the "Device Manager" tab.
  3. In the menu that appears, select Mice and Other Pointing Devices.
  4. Find your mouse and call the context menu.
  5. Select "Enable" or "Disable", and then "Enable".

If no method has helped you to restore the mouse, it still has to be replaced with a new one.
