In diseases of joints, spine and muscles, pain syndrome of varying degrees of intensity often arises. In such cases it is recommended to use local anesthetics, in particular, lidocaine. There are preparations containing this substance and available in a convenient dosage form, for example, a plaster Veracatis. It is easy to attach to the desired area and, unlike the usual compress, it does not slip, providing quick access of lidocaine to the tissues.
Anesthetic plaster Versasitis
The essence of the action of the drug in question is that a cellulose web with a sticky base impregnated with lidocaine adheres to intact skin integuments. The active ingredient is absorbed in an amount of about 3% (a dosage sufficient to stop even an intense pain syndrome), penetrating into the deep layers of the dermis. In this case, the use of the patch does not provoke skin irritation and other negative systemic effects.
Versatis has a high bioavailability, the degree of association with plasma proteins is from 50 to 80%. First, lidocaine penetrates into tissues, which are intensively supplied with blood, and then - into adipose and muscle fiber. Metabolism (decomposition) of the substance occurs mainly in the liver, and is excreted with bile and through the kidneys, in unmodified form up to 10%.
Indications and contraindications to the use of lidocaine plaster Versasitis
The described agent is appointed or nominated at such pathologies:
- pain syndrome due to progression of myositis ;
- vertebrogenic pain;
- herpetic infection, which provokes neuralgia.
Despite the short list of indications, there is evidence that the plaster Versis is effective in osteochondrosis, osteoarthritis, spondylosis, as well as pain and spasms, convulsions in the muscle tissue.
The tool should not be used in such situations:
- inflammation of the skin or open wounds in the area of application;
- hypersensitivity and development of allergic reactions to lidocaine, components of cellulose wafers;
- rash or irritation of the skin in place of gluing the patch.
Also use caution when using Versasitis, if the following problems exist:
- chronic diseases at the stage of relapse;
- old age, weakness of the body;
- myocardial insufficiency in severe form.
Among the side effects are observed:
- rash, hives;
- hyperemia (local);
- itching;
- burning of the skin;
- angioedema.
How to use a plaster Versis with lidocaine?
Apply the application only on dry and clean skin. It is important that the area to be covered by the patch coincides with the area of the affected area. If the projection is small, you can pre-cut the plate.
The time of the patch action (maximum) is 12 hours. After removing the application, you can not immediately use the next dose of the drug, you need to do a 12-hour break.
If the place of gluing Versatis has a thick hairline, it is recommended to cut it with scissors. Shaving is unacceptable, since in this case the upper layer of the epidermis will be damaged and the plaster will most likely provoke a strong skin irritation .
When the use of the drug leads to the appearance of rashes, urticaria or severe burning, you should immediately stop using it.
