Abandoned homesteads near Moscow

Moscow and Moscow region have long been revered as a place, successful for the construction of a noble family nest. The revolutionary winds that raged at the beginning of the last century did not pass by these nests, many of which not only lost their legal owners, but were simply useless to nobody. Today on the site of chic, majestic or simply lovely estates you can see only their ruins ... We are inviting you to a virtual journey through the old abandoned and ruined manors of Moscow and the Moscow region.

  1. In the north-west of Moscow you can see the abandoned estate Pokrovskoe-Streshnevo , once belonged to the princely family Streshnev. Since the October Revolution, the estate has repeatedly passed from hands to the hands of various Soviet institutions, but has reached its present state of disrepair.
  2. Another old manor, whose former owners led their race from Vladimir Monomakh, stands on the bank of the river Nara near Serpukhov. Pushchino-on Nara also repeatedly changed its owners, and then it became a source of building materials for the surrounding inhabitants. Now restoration works are planned here, and, therefore, there is a hope to see the estate in its former splendor.
  3. The Gorenka Manor in Balashikha also did not escape the destructive influence of time. Once it was owned by the princes Dolgoruky, then went to the Count Razumovsky, and at the end of the 19th century became the location of a paper mill and a foundry. Today, the main house of the estate is given to a tuberculosis sanatorium, and the rest of buildings slowly but surely fall into decay.
  4. In the village of Yaropolets, in the Volokolamsky district of the Moscow region, you can see the ruins of the old farmstead of the Counts Chernyshev . In the 17th century, this manor, according to its decoration, was unrivaled not only in Russia, but throughout Europe. Unfortunately, the years of Soviet power left no trace of the former greatness - all values were either plundered or transferred to surrounding museums, and the estate itself becomes more and more ruined every day.
  5. The city of Fryazino, located 30 km from the Moscow Ring Road, boasts a nearby Grebnevo manor . Once it was owned by noble and enlightened people, distinguished by their delicate taste and desire for beauty - the princes Trubetskoe, Vorontsovs, Golitsyns. But this mansion was not destroyed by the destructive wind of the revolution - in 1917 it was plundered and then transferred to a tuberculosis sanatorium. In the second half of the 20th century, attempts were made to restore the former greatness of the manor, but all the results of the restoration work were lost in the fire of the fire. Now Grebnevo is put up for auction, with the condition that the future owner will be obliged to restore the estate in its original form.
