You have a hamster, and where to settle it, you have not decided yet? You can buy a ready cage in the store or make a cage for the hamster yourself.
There are several variants of self-made cells for hamsters. Let's look at one of them: from a plastic container.
How to make a cage for a hamster?
The container, from which you will make a cage, should be deep enough to place a wheel, a drinking bowl, toys.
For work you will need:
- bought in any store a plastic container;
- a metal grating measuring 6 mm, if you are making a cage, for example, for a dzhungar hamster;
- cable ties;
- nippers or scissors for metal;
- soldering iron.
- Using a soldering iron, we cut out the ventilation panels in the walls of the container along previously drawn lines.
- After that, on the contour of the resulting openings, we make small holes for fixing the grids.
- From the metal grid we cut out the blanks for ventilation openings. Lattices should protrude from the edges of the holes for 1-2 cm.
- Now we need to attach the gratings to the edges of the holes on the inside of the cage
- First, we attach the grid to the four corners with cable ties. And the nodes should be tied on the outside of the cell
- Then tighten the cable ties over the remaining holes so that the grate fits snugly against the walls of the cage.
- After the lattice is strengthened, cut off excess screeds to make the cell look more neat.
- It remains to clear the cell from the inside of the remnants of "construction debris", and think that you need a hamster in a cage. Install the drinking bowl, attaching it to the wall of the cell with an adhesive tape.
- For a Chinese hamster, a sand container can be attached to the grill of the ventilation opening, in which the rodent can bathe with pleasure.
