A year later, the Jamaican carnival was led by the leader of the famous Dragonaires group Byron Lee, who became famous for performing music in the style of juice, ska, calypso. This time, the street march attracted the attention of over a thousand participants and spectators.

Carnival, the most popular of the Jamaican holidays , has gained popularity among residents of the state and tourists visiting the island. Every year the number of people taking part in it increases at times. Time has brought certain corrections into this solemn event. Today, the festive procession is held with the participation of carnival groups, especially important of which are Oakridge, Revellers and Raiders. These teams form the largest carnival group in Jamaica and solve organizational issues related to the program of festive events, decor design, tailoring costumes and many others.

Features of the Jamaican Carnival

The annual Carnival of Jamaica is different from similar events taking place in other countries. The main difference is the musical accompaniment of the costume show, which goes under the calypso rhythms. In addition, participants use improvised means to create a deafening noise background. In the course are pots, trash cans, glassware and everything from which you can get at least some sound. Many are surprised that children of the Jamaican carnival are taking part in the festival.

Carnival captures the major cities of the island: Montego Bay , Mandeville , Negril , Ocho Rios , but the brightest masquerade awaits residents and guests of the capital of Jamaica, the city of Kingston . In days of celebration on streets of city it is possible to meet dancing people in carnival suits. The age of participants in the carnival is of no importance, and the kids and gray-haired elders dance next.

The program of carnival in Jamaica is diverse and consists of traditional festive Friday, a session of Socacise, dances to the rhythms of juice, the Great Procession, a beach party. Participants in the masquerade are in a good mood, paint fragments of each other's bodies with bright colors, dance a lot and meet the dawn together.

Many thousands of tourists rush to Jamaica in the first half of April to participate in the solemn event and enjoy the colorful music of this region.
