Chemical composition and properties of Vishnevsky ointment
This ointment, or rather balsamic liniment, is a combined preparation, which consists of two active components:
- Birch tar is a natural product derived from birch bark and is a thick, oily liquid of dark color; has a pronounced antiseptic and antimicrobial effect, promotes the activation of blood flow in tissues, and also has regenerating, drying, anesthetic, absorbing and antipruritic properties.
- Xeroform (bismuth tribromophenolate) is a compound used in medicine that is a fine yellow powder; has drying, astringent and antiseptic effect.
In addition, Vishnevsky's balm contains castor oil, which not only helps the tar and xerobine to penetrate better into the tissues, but also has a moisturizing, softening and regenerating effect.
Indications and contraindications to the use of Vishnevsky ointment
In the instructions to the preparation, the following pathologies are indicated, under which Vishnevsky ointment can be used:
- furunculosis , carbunculosis, purulent abscesses (abscesses);
- burns, frostbite, decubitus skin lesions;
- psoriasis;
- varicose and trophic ulcers;
- thrombophlebitis, obliterating the endarteritis of the lower extremities;
- inflammation of lymph nodes and vessels;
- moist non-healing calluses.
Traditional medicine expands the range of application of this tool, recommending it for use in pimples, sinusitis, hemorrhoids, mastitis, some gynecological diseases. Basically, the ointment is used in the form of compresses, bandages, and tampons. The only contraindication of the remedy is individual intolerance.
The use of Vishnevsky ointment for boils
With furunculosis, the drug is only used when the formation of the abscess is complete, and there will be a tendency to healing. Application in the stage of infiltration and formation can exacerbate the pathological process and involve surrounding tissues in it. For procedures, gauze folded four times is applied, on which a small amount of ointment is applied. The resulting compress is superimposed on the ripe furuncle and covered with polyethylene or compress paper. After 10-12 hours the compress is removed, the skin is wiped with a soft paper towel and alcohol. The procedure is repeated daily until complete healing.
Vishnevsky ointment with genyantema
