Decidual polyp in pregnancy

Against the background of hormonal reorganization associated with the onset of pregnancy, a certain kind of changes take place in the uterus. So, in frequency, there is a proliferation of the mucous layer located directly in the canal of the uterine neck, which leads to the formation of a decidual polyp of the cervical canal, which often occurs during pregnancy.

How is this violation manifested?

In itself, the appearance of this education in the period of bearing a baby can not be called pathology. In this case, doctors, as a rule, when detecting a decidual polyp, take a wait-and-see tactic, i.e. monitor the education, making sure that it does not increase in size.

With such violations, the future mother may not always know about their presence in her body. The main symptom is the appearance of bloody discharge. They are caused by direct trauma of the blood vessels located in the polyp itself. At the same time, painful sensations appear in the lower abdomen.

How is treatment of decidual polyps of the cervix in pregnancy?

As already noted above, if such a disease occurs during the gestation period, doctors try not to injure him again. In other words, the removal of decidual polyp, which occurred during pregnancy, can be appointed only when there is a threat to the health of the baby or the risk of spontaneous abortion increases. Without fail, resection of the polyp is prescribed, when its size is so increased that it grows leading to the opening of the cervical canal, which can provoke premature birth or miscarriage on a short term.

In those cases when infection occurs during pregnancy as a result of traumatization of the decidual polyp, antibiotics and anti-inflammatory drugs are prescribed, taking into account the term and peculiarities of the course of the gestational process.
