Dry food for aquarium fish

There are several main types of food for aquarium fish: dry, frozen and live. Each of them has its own advantages and disadvantages and can be a suitable diet for feeding various species of aquarium inhabitants.

The most accessible and common types of dry food. Many herbivores, carnivores, carnivores and even mixed-species species adapt to feed on such feeds and feel great throughout life. After removal of moisture from food, the formation of dry feed of three basic forms: flakes, granules and tablets. Most often in pet stores you can find dry food in flakes of various types. Advantages of this type of food is its safety (as almost all dangerous and pathogenic organisms perish during the drying process), balance (producers follow the creation of feeds that allow the fish to receive all necessary nutrients and vitamins), as well as accessibility. Disadvantages of this type of food can be the aggression of carnivorous species of fish in relation to herbivores, since the diet of dry food does not suit them in all cases.

Frozen food for aquarium fish

Many experienced aquarists consider it the best food for aquarium fish, as it combines all the positive qualities of dry and fresh food. On the one hand, the fish receive the full volume of all nutrients necessary for proper functioning. In this case, the food is more nutritious, moisture is not removed from it. In addition, such food before freezing is usually treated in a special way, so that the bacteria in them die. That is frozen food is also safe to feed the inhabitants of the aquarium. Most fish eat it with pleasure. Certain feed mixtures are well suited even for feeding carnivorous species. The disadvantage of such feeds is their relative inaccessibility, since not all pet stores have the necessary equipment for storing such feed mixtures.

Live food for aquarium fish

Varied versions of live homemade forage for aquarium fish were especially popular at the beginning of aquarium development. Then it was quite difficult to get ready fodder mixture for fish, and many owners of aquariums practiced feeding "from their own table", that is, they gave the fish that food they ate themselves. Such feeding with live food is still practiced and fish only benefit. However, with increasing knowledge of the needs of aquarium inhabitants, some products were excluded from the list of suitable for a healthy diet of fish. But it is perfectly permissible to dilute the fish diet with a variety of green vegetables, fish, seafood (for example, mussels meat).
